CCP announced today that it has promoted EVE Online senior producer Andie Nordgren to executive producer, a role which has remained vacant since Jon Lander gave it up last May to focus on CCP’s mobile projects. This is notable because Nordgren — who joined the company in 2010 and is also known “CCP Seagull” — has been overseeing development efforts on EVE Online since she accepted the senior producer position in 2013, just months before Lander stepped down as executive producer. At the time, company CEO Hilmar Petursson stated in a company blog post that CCP was looking to hire Lander’s replacement from outside the company. Instead, the company has tapped Nordgren to fill the position. In her new role, Nordgren expects to oversee all aspects of the EVE Online business, from customer support and marketing to development and budget management. She also plans to expand the game’s third-party developer support and attract new subscribers by encouraging established players to “explain why EVE is something they care about,” according to a Reddit IAmA thread she launched shortly after her new role was made public.
